I know, I know, you have seen this photo before. I posted this photo here a few months ago. It's my oldest and his bestest friend who moved far far away! The missing still gets to our whole family. These two truly are the best of friends so when I saw this photo challenge over at I Heart Faces, I thought I'd give it a whirl!

what what? my baby is one?
Sigh... |
Happy Birthday to my one year old baby who looks like a six month old. :) So sad and happy it's your birthday! You are such a happy, full of life girl crammed into a tiny little body. My selfish side wants you to stay a baby for a while longer, but we all know that's not how it works. So here's to growing up, Lola! Love you!!!
big brother love...
My oldest hates the camera. He is at the age where he has become VERY aware every time I pull it out. He is growing up so fast. Towards the end of the school year, he wouldn't even hug me in the car before he left for school. We had to hug inside the house or in the garage where no one could see us. He is a funny kid. He's very aware of girls and constantly tells me how he doesn't like them. I know it's one of those little boys pick on the girls because he deep down has a crush things, but sometimes it is exhausting. Especially when he is mean to some of my best friends daughters. :( Even though he has a little bit of a punk streak in him (which I sometimes find funny), he has always had a soft spot for little babies and small kids. Even at two years old during his hitting phase, he would hit the kids his age and hug the babies. It's really very sweet. He is soooooooo sweet to our baby. I always catch him in the corner, talking baby talk to her, playing and being so kind to her. It melts my heart. He let me take these pictures the other day. I know they are not the best styled pictures or the most technically beautiful. They both have bed head and are in their jammies, but this is our life at it's finest. These capture the love he has for his baby sister so perfectly. LOVE these.
p.s. Even though he admittedly loves these photos, he has forbidden me from printing them and hanging them on the wall because they are too embarrassing. SIGH. What am I gonna do with him??? I guess the blog is okay to share them though right?
the whimsical poppy field...
For a week or two period every year near the middle of June, there is a field up by the mountains that is filled with poppies. They were brought here in a covered wagon by a pioneer woman back in the day and they have taken over an area by what used to be her home. It is gorgeous. I was out of town last week so I missed the poppies in their prime (at least for photographing my kiddos) but I went Saturday night with this little cutie and we got a few decent shots with the poppies that were left. Love how whimsical this field is...playful and unexpected right?
it's great to be eight...part 2
Here is part two. The poppies are back. Love this location, although there isn't a lot of shade. Love these photos!!
Many of you have been asking about my schedule. After much thought and consideration, I have decided that I can only book one photo shoot per month. My four kids must be my priority right now. If I book more than that, I turn into "monster mom" and my family suffers. For those 22 of you on my waiting list, I'm sorry. I realize telling you that I can't get to you until 2013 sounds just plain ridiculous. I have to remember that my kids are growing fast and before I know it they will be at school all day. Right now, while they are little, I want to be able to enjoy the pool, lazy park days, and all the joys (and frustrations) that come with little kids. For now this is best for my family. Hope you understand.

Summer, summer, summertime...
If you're not singing Will Smith's song after reading the title of this post, you should stop reading my blog immediately! HA! I'm loving the sun, laying in the grass, the unscheduled lazy days, and sunglasses! These photos sum up summertime for me. Loving every minute of it!!!
My littlest man...
It's been awhile since this little stinker has been on this blog. My baby has taken his place as the most photographed in the family. These pictures are soooo him! He is defineltly three and has the attitude to match but he is the funniest, sweetest, happiest kid most of the time. He is a clown and we love him at our house!!!
Oh the missing...
more baby love...
I have no long-winded comments for you today...the photos will have to do which is probably a good thing since my writing has never been my strong point! :)
black bean loving baby...
Look at my Cafe Rio, black bean lovin baby! She has officially joined our Friday night tradition...take out from Cafe Rio!
I have decided I need to take and share more photos that document real life. Those kind of photos are the ones that mean most to me. The ones that document all the little things that happen in the day that make me smile. These are the moments I want to remember. They are not always picture perfect and they are sometimes a little messy but, let's be honest, these are the moments that make up the day of a mom. Yup, it's all about black beans smeared in every fold of skin and stand of hair. I don't always remember to embrace these moments and sit back and take it all in. Sometimes I get mad, loose it (I know it's shocking huh?), and miss the beauty of it all. I am trying to be more in the moment and appreciate my chaos before it's all grown up and gone!
i'm a winner???
Well a few days ago on a whim, I entered a photo in a photo challenge over at I Heart Faces. I had absolutely NO expectation of winning. Today, I went to the website to see the winning photos and what do you know? I made the top 10 (number 9 to be exact). What makes it even better is that I am a big fan of the guest photographer judge Chenin Boutwell (yes, as in Totally Rad Actions Boutwell). I am elated. It means more to me coming from someone whose work I admire. Check out the winners here
Baby M.
Oh how i love the warm weather. It has been really nice around here the last few days! (although if you looked outside my window today you would see SNOW)
Yesterday it was warm enough for my baby to venture out into the wild half dressed! It was her first experience in the grass. She did pretty well. Most of my babies have hated the grass. Most would freak out and scream if you sat them down in it!
bff's forever...
But they do have ooohhh so much fun together. They really "get" each other. They have each other's backs. I think these two coined the phrase "two peas in a pod". Don't we all need a friendship like this? Here comes the gut wrenching part: Noah is moving to Seattle in a week.
mood swings of an 8 month old...
Oh man look at these faces! Funny thing is these were all taken within a 2 minute period! Love it!
fresh from heaven...
Oh what a dream this little baby was to photograph! Isn't she just beautiful? It runs in the family can't ya tell? Big sister wanted nothing to do with me but we still got some great shots of her with her new baby sister! I just love this stage of life!!!
Toy toes...
Don't you just love how babies get so obsessed with their toes? Well, she is almost over that stage! Off to bigger and better things like crawling. WHAT? Sad huh? Would have been exciting for any of my other kids, but since she's my last it changes my perspective! Here she is on my bed last week loving her toes again. She really hadn't done this in a while so when I saw her up to her old ways, I got the camera out fast! Sigh...I just LOVE this girl!
iphone photography..
I find myself NEVER taking my big camera with me when I leave the house these days. Carrying a baby seat and trying to help a 3 other kids maneuver through parking lots is enough to worry about! So I have been using my iphone (with hipstamatic app of course) to take pictures more often lately! Only one out of every 15 pictures is really any good but when I pay attention to the available light, I get decent photos! Last week after dance class, this little cutie was laying on my bed (which is right by a window), looking up at me. She looked so pretty and I had my phone in my hand so I snapped this real quickly. LOVE! I didn't even edit it at all. This is straight out of my iphone (hipstamatic did do it's magic). So use those readily available cell phones to capture all those little fleeting moments that will be gone if you take the time to get out your real camera!
