in a rut...

I am in a creative rut. Every time I get out my camera, I am disappointed in my photos. It's cold outside and I don't want to take pictures in my house because I want to repaint, reupholster, retile, blah blah blah. Am I sounding ridiculous yet? It is ridiculous. I have vowed to still take photos indoors, even if my walls and cabinets aren't painted gray and white. :)  I have a little psycho perfectionist in me. Although I realize I probably have my mommy goggles on when looking at these pictures, these are pretty dang cute. This little girl deserves some photos, even if her momma is CRAZY right?

The old folks matter too...

LOVE these two! They put up with all my teenage drama, supported me through the roller coaster that was my college years, and are the BEST grandparents to my kiddos.  I couldn't ask for more. They continue to love and support me today in all I do!  We took these photos this summer when they were here visiting. (yes, this is the first time anyone has seen any of the photos I took that day) It's a task to get these two in front of the camera but I just love these photos. Maybe they really speak to me because I have so few pictures of these two people. I think looking at them, you get a little glimpse into the funny, quirky,  spunky, and awesome people they are! LOVE you Mom and Dad!

ps...I am aware that the title of this post could be offensive to some including my parents but I think I'm funny so I'm sticking with it! :)

i'm published...

I know, you have seen this photo before if you have ever looked at my blog, BUT this photo was chosen to be published in a book titled "Laughter".  I just got my copy in the mail a few days ago. I am very proud to say "I have been published" whatever that really means! :) I am very excited hence the blatant self-promotion! If you want to check out the book go here.

Perfect Pink Toes...

I couldn't decide which "on your feet" photo to enter this week. I'm sure LOTS of baby feet will be entered over at I Heart Faces this week but I'm still stickin' with this one! It's one of those lucky shots. This baby curled up her perfect pink toes for one second and I got it IN FOCUS just in time! Love this!
Go check out more feet photos over at I Heart Faces.com!
I do have some sessions that need to be blogged. Maybe this week I will find some time to post something besides an I Heart Faces challenge! But don't hold me to it!!! :)

BFF'S for I Heart Faces

I know, I know, you have seen this photo before. I posted this photo here a few months ago. It's my oldest son and his best friend who moved far far away back in March! The missing still gets to our whole family. These two truly are the best of friends so when I saw this photo challenge over at I Heart Faces, I thought I'd give it a whirl! This photo sums up this friendship up. LOVE it and LOVE both these boys!

P.S. The primary purpose of this shoot was to take photos of these boys individually for their upcoming baptisms hence the dressed up look. I'm soooooooo glad I shot a few of them together even if they are in ties! :)

what what? my baby is one?

One year ago today, my baby was born!

Looking at these photos of the day you were born, I cannot believe how much you have grown!

Sigh...

Happy Birthday to my one year old baby who looks like a six month old. :) So sad and happy it's your birthday! You are such a happy, full of life girl crammed into a tiny little body. My selfish side wants you to stay a baby for a while longer, but we all know that's not how it works. So here's to growing up, Lola! Love you!!!

big brother love...

My oldest hates the camera. He is at the age where he has become VERY aware every time I pull it out. He is growing up so fast. Towards the end of the school year, he wouldn't even hug me in the car before he left for school. We had to hug inside the house or in the garage where no one could see us. He is a funny kid. He's very aware of girls and constantly tells me how he doesn't like them. I know it's one of those little boys pick on the girls because he deep down has a crush things, but sometimes it is exhausting. Especially when he is mean to some of my best friends daughters. :( Even though he has a little bit of a punk streak in him (which I sometimes find funny), he has always had a soft spot for little babies and small kids. Even at two years old during his hitting phase, he would hit the kids his age and hug the babies. It's really very sweet. He is soooooooo sweet to our baby. I always catch him in the corner, talking baby talk to her, playing and being so kind  to her. It melts my heart. He let me take these pictures the other day. I know they are not the best styled pictures or the most technically beautiful. They both have bed head and are in their jammies, but this is our life at it's finest. These capture the love he has for his baby sister so perfectly. LOVE these.

p.s.  Even though he admittedly loves these photos, he has forbidden me from printing them and hanging them on the wall because they are too embarrassing. SIGH. What am I gonna do with him??? I guess the blog is okay to share them though right?

the whimsical poppy field...

For a week or two period every year near the middle of June, there is a field up by the mountains that is filled with poppies. They were brought here in a covered wagon by a pioneer woman back in the day and they have taken over an area by what used to be her home. It is gorgeous.  I was out of town last week so I missed the poppies in their prime (at least for photographing my kiddos) but I went Saturday night with this little cutie and we got a few decent shots with the poppies that were left. Love how whimsical this field is...playful and unexpected right?

it's great to be eight...part 2

Here is part two. The poppies are back. Love this location, although there isn't a lot of shade. Love these photos!!

Many of you have been asking about my schedule. After much thought and consideration, I have decided that I can only book one photo shoot per month. My four kids must be my priority right now. If I book more than that, I turn into "monster mom" and my family suffers. For those 22 of you on my waiting list, I'm sorry. I realize telling you that I can't get to you until 2013 sounds just plain ridiculous. I have to remember that my kids are growing fast and before I know it they will be at school all day. Right now, while they are little, I want to be able to enjoy the pool, lazy park days, and all the joys (and frustrations) that come with little kids. For now this is best for my family. Hope you understand.

Summer, summer, summertime...

If you're not singing Will Smith's song after reading the title of this post, you should stop reading my blog immediately! HA! I'm loving the sun, laying in the grass, the unscheduled lazy days, and sunglasses! These photos sum up summertime for me. Loving every minute of it!!!

My littlest man...

It's been awhile since this little stinker has been on this blog.  My baby has taken his place as the most photographed in the family. These pictures are soooo him! He is defineltly three and has the attitude to match but he is the funniest, sweetest, happiest kid most of the time. He is a clown and we love him at our house!!!
