Our days of summer and pool time are dwindling. One week from today they will be back at school.

It seems she always ends up here when we go on hikes....well here or in my arms. She knows how to work us I guess...
Tonight, as I was photographing a family, we were photo-bombed by this guy. Quite a cool experience.
We headed up into the mountains to check out a spot for tomorrow's family session I am shooting. I think we found a winner and loads and loads of wildflowers.
Always dramatic when you stop at the snow cone shack and get your kids out and it's closed.
torrential downpour...
Flip flops on the wrong feet (always) and dirt, scrapes, and bruises...sure signs of summertime for a four year old.
Panning is hard but oh so cool when it works.
Sometimes all the elements come together in the best of ways...
A day spent laying around feels good sometimes....
The last light goes off around 10:30 or 11:00 most nights around here. Summer = almost no schedule anymore. Sometimes I enjoy that and sometimes I want our more structured life back. That will come soon enough I guess.
Santa Monica Beach sunset and all four in the frame!
We got to go visit with one of my oldest and dearest friends at her Santa Monica beach house. My kids usually prefer the beach to the pool but not when they could hang here...and I guess I understand why. The beach was in view at least. :)
swimming in the prettiest of light
The one and only image I have of all five of us together on the road trip we took to So. Cal. This was our first long road trip without another adult. It was hard but worth it. The good things always are. We were walking down the Santa Monica boardwalk to the pier to ride the ferris wheel. I saw this and made them stop to take a picture....only two of them shed tears over it. Glad I have this and they will be too someday. Go here to see my efforts to get in the frame once a month with my kids.
sometimes a simple portrait is in order....
